General Assembler

Summary of Duties

General Assemblers are responsible for assembling various parts and components using hand and power tools. General Assemblers should be able to read blueprints and obtain the necessary materials for the assembly processes.


Skill level & Responsibilities.

General Assembler I

  • Assemble and repair mechanical, trim, and finishing parts and components
  • Finish surfaces and components, including:
    • Sanding
    • Deburring
    • DA 
    • Grinding
  • Cut parts from blanks
  • Assemble and connect simple electrical components or plumbing as instructed.
General Assembler II
  • Perform all duties of an General Assembler I
  • Assemble complex mechanical systems
    • Axles
    • Engines
    • Other parts as needed
  • Set up, test and repair mechanical systems
    • Axles
    • Engines
    • Other parts as needed
  • Assemble and set up major vehicle parts of the cab, body, chassis, and aerial.
  • Work under minimal supervision.
General Assembler III
  • Perform all General Assembler II duties
  • Assemble and connect simple electrical components or plumbing as instructed
  • AC charging must hold one of the following welding certifications: 2G (unlimited thickness), 2F, 3F, 4F
  • Work under minimal supervision
